Mexico is not only a country, it is a state of mind, as it refers to a culture with many rich memories. Before the arrival of the Spaniards, Mexico was a unique place with a simple sense of culture.

Early in the sixteenth century, soon after the expulsion of the Moors in 1492 from the south of Spain and in the same year as the discovery of America, the Spanish conquered what is today known as Mexico. This mixture of these two sensibilities creates the uniqueness of Mexico as we know it today.

Mexico is shaped by generations of people who have found joy in their daily lives. This joy is always manifested in the Mexican culture. Mexican life is about emotions, about enjoying the rich quality of life or the simple relaxed side of life, tequila in hand, watching a hot-red sunset by the sea, or feasting at an epicurean luncheon under the shade of a wooden pergola.

It is about sensations and taking the time for a tranquil barefooted walk on a beach at sunset with a drink of your favorite local juice. Life is simple or it can be sophisticated. It is about the rich use of color and texture. It is a tapestry of "over the top" emotions, along with a wonderful blend of exciting music, passionate rituals and creative food.

I believe it is worth an exploration into the healing qualities of Mexico. We can take time to see a butterfly fly, or we can hear a grasshopper sing. This is the poetry of the Mexican sensibility, a true Mexico experience. And that is why I have a home on the Pacific Coast of the Mexican Riviera.
